Every day, the ProgrammableWeb team is busy, updating its three primary directories for APIs, clients (language-specific libraries or SDKs for consuming or providing APIs), and source code samples. If you have new APIs, clients, or source code examples to add to ProgrammableWeb’s directories, we offer forms (APIs, Clients, Source Code) for submitting them to our API research team. If there’s a listing in one of our directories that you’d like to claim as the owner, please contact us at [email protected].
Twelve APIs have been added to the ProgrammableWeb directory in categories including Cryptocurrency, Games, and Astronomy. Highlights include an API for monitoring Covid-19 cases, and various APIs from NASA. Here’s a rundown of the latest additions.
Nubentos is an API marketplace for health. The Nubentos COVID-19 Monitoring APITrack this API provides pneumonia case information associated with the COVID-19 coronavirus. API methods are available to return suspected and confirmed cases, deaths, and recovered cases. The data we provide is collected from the WHO, the CDC, the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (ECDC), China’s National Health Commission, and Chinese website DXY, which provides fast regional case estimates. This API is listed under the Health category.
Croquet creates live, collaborative experiences for games and applications. Croquet brings fast and efficient multiplayer experiences by incorporating a synchronization system, native cross-platform support, and public reflectors (serverless deployments). The Croquet APITrack this API is accessible indirectly via SDK. It is listed in the Games category.
Pingen is a web-based mail platform that provides print, package, stamp, and post services. The Pingen APITrack this API enables users to send postal mail from an online application. Methods are available to manage documents, accounts, calculations, contacts and more. This API is listed in the Mail category.
Santiment provides behavior analytics for cryptocurrency markets. The Santiment Neuro GraphQL APITrack this API enables developers to incorporate on-chain, social, GitHub and fundamental data sets associated with cryptocurrencies. The API returns asset watchlists, insights, and the top developing topics in crypto at the moment. This API is listed in the Cryptocurrency category.
Seametrix API provides a REST API with sea distances and sea routing between ports and/or co-ordinates, and comes along with a complete database of sea and inland ports and terminals across the globe. Version 3 of the APITrack this API is now available. The Seametrix API is listed in the Marine category.
The NASA API portal is growing, so we’ve recently added several more NASA APIs, including some new versions, to our Astronomy category, and listed them below.
NASA Asteroids NeoWs APITrack this API provides RESTful access to information on near-Earth asteroids. NeoWs (Near Earth Object Web Service) can be used to search for asteroids based on their closest approach to Earth, to look up specific asteroids using their NASA JPL small body IDs, and to browse the overall data set.
NASA GeneLab Public APITrack this API allows developers to access the GeneLab’s full-text search as well as its data and metadata retrieval capabilities. The API is RESTful, and query results can be delivered in either HTML or JSON format. This API can also be used to search NIH/NCBI’s GeneExpression Omnibus, EBI’s Proteomics Identification, and the Argonne National Laboratory’s Metagenomics Rapid Annotations using Subsystems Technology (MG-RAST).
NASA DONKI APITrack this API allows developers to access the information stored in the Space Weather Database Of Notifications, Knowledge, and Information (DONKI). DONKI is a tool that chronicles daily interpretations of space weather observations, analysis, models, forecasts, and notifications provided by the Space Weather Research Center (SWRC). Space weather phenomena covered by DONKI include coronal mass ejections, geomagnetic storms, interplanetary shocks, solar flares, magnetopause crossings, and more.
NASA Image and Video Library APITrack this API allows developers to access the NASA Image and Video Library site using REST calls. The API provides methods for searching the site and for retrieving a media asset’s manifest, a media asset’s metadata location, a video asset’s captions location, or a media album’s contents.
NASA EPIC API (V2)Track this API allows developers to access daily imagery collected by DSCOVR’s Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC) instrument. This instrument is positioned at the Earth-Sun Lagrange point and provides full disc imagery of the Earth and unique perspectives of astronomical events like lunar transits. Developers can use the API to request image metadata and key information on both natural color and enhanced color imagery.
NASA Techport APITrack this API allows developers to access data on technologies funded and developed by NASA in a machine-readable format. NASA develops technologies in a variety of areas such as propulsion, nanotechnology, robotics, and human health. Developers can export Techport data into either XML or JSON format.
NASA InSight: Mars Weather Service APITrack this API allows developers to get summary data for each of the last available Sols (Martian days). This data is provided by NASA’s InSight Mars lander, which takes continuous weather measurements on the surface of Mars. Measurements are taken at Elysium Planitia near Mars’ equator and include temperature, wind, and pressure.
