Flexi-Dragon

I really liked the style of the dragon done here https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:570345 by muzz64 and thought I would try my hand at making it flexi with both wings attaching with only pressure. The wings attached for me great and are very hard to take back out. I’m sure results will vary dependent on how well printers are setup.(I have some elephant foot on my prints which may be helping the fit). Try one wing and if it is too loose try printing at 101%.

Update: Rev B
Changes

  • Improved the clips to attach the wings, They will be a little harder to get in but should be very hard to take out.(RevB not compatible with the first Dragon)I have not been able to remove the wings with out breaking something.
  • Improved the arch of the neck, his head should not point down as much. This may differ from printer to printer.
  • Increased the size of the hinges on the wings. This should make them more robust.

Geometric Concrete Pot Mold

Step up your 3d Printed projects to a new level !!

With 3 parts of PLA you can create this amazing geometric planter or pot for many uses. Just Print 2 sides and the internal piece (VASE MODE with flexible PLA is better) and assemble it. Once you have it, mix some concrete and trow it into the mold.

You can print it in the size you want !! Combine scales: 1 + 0,8 + 0,6 and you will have the 3 beautiful combo of the first picture.

The molds lasts at least 5 times – With a slow print and a good wash of the mold it can last up to 20 casts.

Experiment with concrete ! Add some color to the mix ! Marble them ! Cast with other materials like resin ! Or just paint it !

ICE CREAM TOO !!

To achieve a perfect finish use a Concrete Sealer of your choice.(Acrylic or solvent based) Just wipe the concrete surface and let it dry. With each layer of sealer, the concrete becomes less penetrable for liquids and creates a smoother finish.

If u dont want to do all of this in concrete… here is the LAZY VERSION !!

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3743407

Take the finished planter right out of your 3d printer 😉

Dont forget to post your make on Instagram !

Catapult Inspired By Leonardo da Vinci

I have changed the “bucket” to be wider for bigger “projectiles” and added a thumb wheel of easy range adjustment.

But the bigger redesign is the fulcrum. I split it into two parts to be printed easier.
Now the hole for the axle goes now through all the way, so a longer threaded is needed

https://youtu.be/aHacG3KJ2HM

EDIT 4/30/2019

As mentioned below I managed to break/wear out the spring rather quickly.
Hence I added a beefed up version. This might not be the engineering approach of Leonardo as he had presumably no access to rubber bands. I use my catapult as an office toy and am therefore not too concerned with historical accuracy.

P.S. I will need to redesign the spring and strengthen it. It suffered material fatigue due to tightening the rubber bands to much, because I wanted to increase range and power. Stay tuned!

P.P.S: Here is the original:

Easter rabbit puzzle

I’ve seen something similar on Pinterest and decided to design my own, with a more modern/cute and less cheesy design.

The original size is pretty small for children and can be dangerous if they’re swallowed, so I recommend printing at least 25% bigger if it’s a gift for kids 🙂
