TomTom Adds Maps Styler to its Maps API

TomTom just announced enhancements to its TomTom Maps APITrack this API. A new tool, TomTom Maps Styler, allows users to customize maps for both web and mobile apps. The Styler includes over 900 maps features that enable users to style maps consistent with the users’ brand and style.

“Our developer community actively use the TomTom Maps API, yet they can be a bit overwhelmed by the number of possibilities to modify map features,” TomTom Managing Director, Anders Truelsen, commented in a press release. “We introduced TomTom Map Styler to further improve the experience of customizing our maps, helping developers to keep visual consistency for their website or mobile app.”

Specific ways in which a user may want to customize a map through the Styler include color, opacity, patterns, line width, font size, and many more. Out of the box features include styles such as basic, basic night, basic light, hybrid, hybrid night, labels and labels night. Developers can download a JSON style to their computer for further work. As users customize their maps, they add layers through the Styler which can be easily tracked and manipulated. Check out the docs to learn more.

Maps Styler is free to use. TomTom announced the new feature this week at TechCrunch Disrupt. Check out the docs to learn more.
