Wolf Administration Celebrates Groundbreaking of Recyclable Plastic Manufacturer in Schuylkill County – PA Department of Community & Economic Development

Frackville, PA – Today, Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Secretary Dennis Davin joined officials from Clearly Clean, LLC, a manufacturer of recyclable plastic trays for retail food products, and local leaders to break ground on a new expansion project in Frackville, Schuylkill County.

“We in the Wolf Administration are proud to stand behind growing companies like Clearly Clean that, in addition to creating jobs and improving the local economy, are also boosting Pennsylvania’s manufacturing sector with an emphasis on innovation and environmental responsibility with their recyclable food trays,” said Sec. Davin. “This new facility is going to have a big impact on the local economy through the creation of 125 new full-time jobs and millions of dollars of investment. It’s not every day that we get to celebrate news like that.”

The project enabled the company to purchase and renovate an 80,000-square-foot building to be used as a thermoforming plant and warehouse for the company’s finished products. Following the establishment of this facility, Clearly Clean plans to build a 45,000-square-foot production and engineering facility next to its current facility in Orwigsburg; these efforts will support the creation of 125 jobs in the area.

In March Governor Tom Wolf announced that Clearly Clean received a funding proposal from the Department of Community and Economic Development for a $350,000 Pennsylvania First grant and $252,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits to be distributed upon the creation of new jobs. The company was also encouraged to apply for a $3 million low-interest loan through the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority. The project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team, an experienced group of economic development professionals who report directly to the governor and work with businesses that are considering locating or expanding in Pennsylvania, with additional coordination through Schuylkill Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO).
